Join a view walk and talk with urban planner Sandy James on Sunday, Nov 12 at 11am. We’ll start in front of Science World and make our way around Olympic Village, which hosts several view cones. We’ll end the tour with a social at Terra Breads by the Olympic Village plaza to talk about how we can save our public mountain views.

MORE SEATS: Vancouver’s View Protection Policy Lecture with Larry Beasley and Peter Busby
More seats opened and a new speaker added!
Join SFU's City Program and SFU Urban Studies for a free lecture by former Vancouver Planning Director, Larry Beasley, and architect Peter Busby, on a key policy that has shaped Vancouver's skyline.
Vancouver’s View Protection Policy has shaped downtown Vancouver into one of the most recognizable skylines in the world and ensured views of the city, water and mountains from various viewpoints across the city remain a public commons. Countless views are automatically protected from the dense heart of the downtown out, along the corridors.
This presentation is by Larry Beasley, the former Director of Planning for the City of Vancouver, who was instrumental in crafting the view protection policy. Architect Peter Busby was one of the technical advisors to the original view cone policy. They will delve into how the policy was developed and implemented.
This in-person event will also be live streamed for online attendees.
Where: SFU Vancouver at Harbour Centre, Room 1900 515 West Hastings Street
Date: Wed, Dec 6
Time: 6:30pm
