Mayor Ken Sim's statement on view cones
They're voting on it Wed, Oct 4. Take action to stop them ASAP!
This morning, Mayor Ken Sim decided to double down on eliminating view cones saying that Vancouver doesn’t have a “view crisis”.
But we are in a view crisis right now because the mayor and council want to eliminate free public mountain views for multi-million dollar condos only the wealthiest can afford.
They’ll be voting on the view cone motion tomorrow Wed, Oct 4.
Here are four quick things you can do right now to stop them:
Post on X (formerly Twitter) directly to the Mayor KenSimCity to tell him to cancel the motion and protect our public mountain views. You can write a new post or respond to his post here.
Sign Up to Speak: Register to speak at the Mayor and Council meeting tomorrow Wed, Oct 4 (by phone or in person) for agenda item A4. Only a handful of people signed up so far — so we need your help to show up to show force!
Email City Council: Tell them to scrap this motion. Personalize your email for impact.
(If the email button doesn’t work, instructions are below)
Rally Support: Get others to join this email list and help protect Vancouver's public views.

Dear Mayor and Council,
Protect Vancouver's public mountain views for the public.
Cancel the motion to "Modernizing the City’s View Protection Guidelines to Unlock New Housing and Economic Opportunities".
I will remember to not vote for you if you vote for this motion to eliminate and privatize Vancouver's public mountain views.
