INVITE: Brews & Views to protest for Heather Bay View Cone (Sun, Oct 8)
Have coffee, take photos, and enjoy the public view of the Lions
Now that city council has voted to potentially remove view cones with no public consultation, we’re going to have to visibly step up to advocate for the view cones to tell city council they should not privatize our public mountain views.
One contentious view cone that real estate developers and councillors are targeting to eliminate is the Heather Bay view cone at the Leg and Boot Square that looks out to the peaks of the Lions — the one that Councillor Peter Meiszner says is “blocked by sailboat masts”.
We’re hosting the first Brews & Views that’s part-protest and part-social to show city council public views are worth saving.
This Sunday, Oct 8 at 11am to 1pm, come grab a coffee at Convivial Cafe at the Leg and Boot Square, and chat how we can save Vancouver's public views while enjoying the Heather Bay view.
Don't forget your camera to capture the public views of the Lions to share online to remind everyone why these views should be protected for everyone to enjoy.
Where: Convivial Cafe and Bakery at the Leg and Boot Square
Date: Sunday, Oct 8
Time: 11am-1pm
PS. Did you get an email from the Mayor’s Office about view cones if you sent a response? We’re hearing varying reports. If you received an email, please forward what you received to us at info@saveourskylineyvr.ca. Thanks!
